The Comanche County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has a staff of 9, serving a population of nearly 2,000 individuals. In 2021, almost 20% of all investigations conducted by the sheriff’s office were violent crimes. As a result of the influx of violent criminal activity, the CCSO seeks to increase its evidence-collection capacity to aid in prosecuting violent crime cases.
Using Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) funding, the CCSO is purchasing forensic evidence extraction software to increase investigative capacity and perform cellphone data extractions for violent crime cases. The CCSO will also deploy software to enhance the collection and management of all evidence to aid prosecutions and strengthen the body of evidence collected by the sheriff’s office to better serve and protect the residents of Comanche County.
