Agency Profile

The Frederick, Colorado, Police Department (FPD) has a staff of 39 serving a population of over 15,000 individuals. Frederick is part of an interagency program that serves four towns: Frederick, Firestone, Dacono, and Mead. Violent criminal activity has dramatically affected Dacono and Mead, with Dacono accounting for 30% of violent crime in the Carbon Valley. The crimes that significantly affect Frederick’s community include assault, sexual assault, crimes against children, robbery, and intimate partner violence.

The FPD plans to collaborate with nearby municipalities to create an innovative victim services program. The program will serve the Towns of Frederick, Firestone, Mead, and the City of Dacono. The goal is to increase victim services with a focus on decreasing the number of victims experiencing repeated victimization. The FPD plans to hire an Outreach Victim Advocate to attain this goal. The advocate will help victims of violent crime access the necessary resources to help with basic needs, mental health support, transportation to nearby shelters, and ongoing safety. The program intends to reduce violent crime in all four municipalities through advocacy and providing victim assistance.
