Agency Profile

The Lee County, Iowa, Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) serves a population of over 33,000 individuals covering almost 538 square miles with two county seats. Lee County is a rural area with a low average income level and declining school enrollment. The LCSO faces the challenge of addressing violent criminal activity, such as robberies and murders, with limited technology. High crime levels, which include serious assaults and intimate partner violence, are frequent occurrences, and the community is also experiencing growing concerns of domestic terrorism.

The LCSO intends to implement evidence-capture technology to increase its crime scene investigation capacity. This technology will allow the LCSO to accurately capture a representation of any criminal activity in a given location at a specific time. The evidence identified and collected will enhance criminal cases and potential civil litigation prosecution.
