Agency Profile

The Monticello, Arkansas, Police Department (MPD) serves over 8,000 individuals. In recent years, violent crime has increased within the Monticello community, including sexually motivated crimes, abductions, robberies, assaults, burglaries, narcotics trafficking, and weapons violations. The MPD plans to increase its capacity to conduct forensic evidence extractions to keep pace with the increased violent criminal activities.

Using Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) funding, the MPD is using forensic evidence extraction software to allow investigators to extract data from mobile devices to enhance its investigations through a nine-step process. This process will preserve evidence in its original form while performing structured investigations by collecting, identifying, and validating digital information to provide more comprehensive intelligence for investigations and produce successful outcomes.
