Agency Profile
The Ridge Spring, South Carolina, Police Department (RSPD) has 5 sworn officers, serving a population of almost 600 individuals. Ridge Spring has experienced emboldened criminal activity during lower visibility hours, including homicides, burglaries, and armed robberies. The rise in criminal activity stems from having an understaffed agency.
To address those challenges, the RSPD intends to hire a part-time crime analyst and an additional law enforcement officer. The officer will help mitigate criminal activity during lower visibility hours and support surrounding law enforcement agencies, including the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office. The crime analyst will analyze data received from patrol officers and will make recommendations on strategies to reduce violent criminal activity. The RSPD hopes to use these resources to create a more substantial public safety presence within the community.
