The Wayne County, Indiana, Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has 86 sworn officers and serves over 66,000 individuals. In recent years, the Wayne County community has experienced a surge in violent crimes, including homicides, intimate partner violence, overdoses, and assaults. Up to 80% of the violent crimes in Wayne County are narcotics-related. WCSO seeks to deploy high-performance narcotics detection and identification devices to increase arrests and minimize the prevalence of narcotics-related crime.
The devices WCSO plans to purchase will detect and identify narcotics instantly while providing safety and security to WCSO staff and the Wayne County community. WCSO believes this equipment will produce valuable information and data to enhance investigations and prosecutions.
