Rural Violent Crime Reduction Rural Roundtable II: Narcotics Trafficking

This Rural Roundtable, hosted by the National Policing Institute, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), served as a collaborative, peer networking opportunity for Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) grantees to discuss narcotics trafficking and related crime challenges. During this event, RVCRI grantees heard from Chief James MacGillis, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Police Department, on his experience addressing narcotics-related offenses and working within a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). There were also two RVCRI program presentations from Deputy Eric Scott of the Hancock County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Office and Chief Joseph Stanford of the Ashland, Alabama, Police Department. Attendees also participated in a facilitated discussion based on the presentations and topics from the event.
